If you’re in NYC we hope you’ll stop in and see the lobby of the Affinity Shelburne Hotel at the corner of Lexington and 37th. The grand opening of the remodeled hotel took place in June.
I created a large drawing that was reproduced and applied to the walls surrounding the elevator core. Placed end to end it would occupy a space of about 10′×60′. The People at Affinia asked me to create this piece with the idea of “connecting” in mind. This is a theme that carries through much of my artwork anyway so it came very naturally to me. I spend a few weeks every year in New York so I was able to draw upon my memories of the diverse people I have encountered in this wonderful city.
We also created custom textiles for the lobby and all of the rooms.
This was such a wonderful project for us. We’re very proud of it.
